Dedicated to Cindy Sherman’s History Portraits, a series she began whilst living in Rome in the late 80s. Drawing from a range of art-historical styles and periods, including the Baroque, Renaissance, Neoclassical, she used costume, set and prostheses to construct herself as different historical portrait paintings. Playful mocking the discipline of art history – Sherman squirts milk from her nipples and exposes her patchy prosthetic breasts, all in the name of art.
