1st Edition, 1991

£150

The Japanese version of Sudjic’s influential study on Rei Kawakubo and Comme des Garçons, and the former’s influence across all corners of fashion, art, design and architecture, translated by Yoshiko Ikoma, who was an editor at Vogue Japan from 1998 to 2002. The book features a biography, multiple interviews and fashion plates, often drawing parallels between Kawakubo and Le Corbusier; Sudjic also shadowed the elusive designer behind the scenes of some of her Paris shows, and visited Japanese textile mills and cutting rooms during his research.
