Sunil Gupta's pioneering portraits of proud gay couples come together in this very special new book, published on the occasion of his exhibition at The Photographer's Gallery, London, 2020. The Lovers series started in 1984 when Gupta's first long-term relationship broke down, and he decided to begin photographing queer couples together in private (often domestic) environments in west London where Gupta was living and studying.
