Published alongside the exhibition Triple Threat at Maximillian William, London, comprising over 40 new works on paper from British artist Somaya Critchlow, and curated by acclaimed American writer and critic, Hilton Als. The artist's delicate and intimately-scaled drawings depict her usual subject matter of black female nude figures recalling personal, historic and pop cultural references, complicating power structures surrounding Black female sensuality and representation. This book includes reproductions of all graphite and Japanese ink on paper works in the show, followed by an essay written by Als in response to Critchlow’s drawings.
