This totally wild book was published to accompany the 1998 Rotterdam exhibition Kiss the Future!, which itself was produced in collaboration with Marc Newson to show Walter Van Beirendonck’s Autumn/Winter 1998 collection. Titled Believe, the collection centred on the French artist Orlan – Walter’s muse for the season – and her fantastical plastic surgery body artworks. The designer describes the book as “a chance for him to present his futuristic vision of clothes and beauty to a wider public”. With photographs by Juergen Teller (who shot the likes of Alexander McQueen and Devon Aoki for the book) and words by Suzy Menkes and Pascale Renaux.
