Published on the occasion of her first major solo show at The Photographers Gallery, London in November 1997, Location focuses on Rineke Dijkstra’s early portraiture. Exploring her subjects in states of flux – from the awkward states of pre-adolescence, teenage years and motherhood. The double-sided cover – a style she would also adapt in her later book Portraits, 2001 – portrays high school boys in Liverpool in 1994.
