An intimate photographic exploration of home, memory and survival. Rooms We Made Safe brings together images made by Michella Bredahl and her mother, Maria Bredahl, forming an intergenerational dialogue about care, instability and the act of looking.

Rooted in the domestic spaces of social housing on the outskirts of Copenhagen, these photographs resist nostalgia, holding tenderness and tension side by side. Bedrooms, kitchens and living rooms become emotionally charged sites — places where safety is provisional and continuously remade.

Both tender and unsentimental, this book reflects on photography as a shared language between mother and daughter, and on how personal histories are shaped by the rooms we inhabit.
