Only 300 copies were made of Grace Ahlbom's Darius, her 2019 zine of friend and subject Darius Khonsary. Shot in Taormina, a hilltop town on the east coast of Sicily, Ahlbom experimented with the tropes associated to early photographic portraiture, and its staging of an imagined past – contrasting classical images of Darius alongside landscapes of ruins interrupted by modern infrastructure.
